WELCOME TO THE FDA LIONS BOYS BASKETBALL PROGRAM
(1994-Present)
The FDA Lions is an academic based basketball program. The program was founded in 1994 by Coach Patrick Mangan at the Frederick Douglass Academy, a top notch college – preparatory school in Harlem. He believed that all student-athletes could become better students in the classroom and on the basketball court if they are given the right incentives and motivation to succeed. The main focus of the FDA Lions has always been to create more opportunities for its students-athletes to attend college. For the last 12 years, the FDA Lions have become the example of what high school basketball should be about, both in the classroom, and on the basketball court. The success rate of the program has been tremendous. All of its graduating seniors have gone on to attend some of the top colleges in the country on scholarships based on both academic and athletic merits. Also, they have opened the door for the current students in the program by being successful at those institutions.
